My journey in Form 6 7. Rainbow After Rain

This will be the last of the series, if you finish reading all the previous blogs, you must be a person who has such a great patience!

5 November 2019, I reached the school as usual, but with a nervous yet exciting mood. I have prepared myself well for the exam and finally it's the time to show what I had.

"Hey, already finish studying huh?", a surprise greet from my buddy in the early morning. "Nope", I replied him with a fishy grin. I bet he has fully prepared for this exam, but both of us won't admit it, it was a common practice for us during exam season. From the General Paper till the last subject Chemistry, I answered it with all what I had. To be honest, I was quite satisfied my performance except there was something that I uncertain in General Paper, perhaps it was the psychological effect after the two semesters.

Before my retake papers, I had one week time to recall my memories back. My preparation was not last minute effort, as I started my revision already around June holiday. Luckily, I sat for only two retake papers and I think I managed my time appropriately. For the Physics retake paper, it was harder than the Sem 2 paper as the questions consisted of more theoretical part than the calculation one. After I finished the Physics paper, I let out a long sigh of relief, like the huge stones on my shoulders were vanished in a split of second.

" I am free! I finished it!" I told myself. I couldn't believe that I went through the journey at the moment.

In the February of the following year, the result for Sem 3 gave me a glimpse of chance to achieve my dream, I achieved 4 A's, with an A- in Maths T, quite surprised me because I thought it will be General Paper again. In the same week, my retake outcome showed the positive sign for me too, 2A's for two subjects I sat for retake! This meant I achieved 5A and 1A- for 6 papers in a month, something impressive that I achieved in STPM so far. The miracle happened brought me a big step closer to my target.

25 February 2020, a memorable day in my life. I turned out to be one of the perfect scorer in my school, together with other 8 scorers. "4 flats finally, my sweat and tear paid off, I achieved what I targeted in Lower Six!" The success was like a beautiful rainbow on the sky, appear after a long lasting heavy downpour! Reflecting the process I went through, I appreciate the effort of the determined me in the past. I even wondered what if I get enrolled into the local matriculation, can I achieved the same too? Or what if I listened to my friends' words, going for private university? The choice of choosing Form 6 proved too be a worthy one, not only the achievement in academics, but most importantly the shaping of my personal characteristic. I felt that I am able to survive in any other challenge that i will face in the future!

Besides my individual success, my high school, SMJK Chung Ling Butterworth has also achieved an outstanding performance, with the most 4 flaters (9) and overall school CGPA of 3.16 in STPM 2019 since the new syllabus was introduced. I hope to pursue my first choice Mechanical Engineering with scholarship in the future.

You can do it too!

That's all my experience and life in Form 6. Inspiring? Well, I hope you can achieve the success you dream of in your Form 6 journey! Here I would like to give some advices for the juniors who are studying or going to study Form 6:

1. "Form 6 is hard" is not always true. The difficulty depends in your attitude towards it. If you pay enough hard work, you can went through it!

2. Nothing is impossible. An early failure doesn't determine the final outcome. Sometimes, hard work+luck can cause miracle to happen.

3. Result is important but don't forget other thing you have. Friendship you have in Form 6 might be the best memory and lasts longer than you think!

4. Sometimes if you stuck, don't give up easily, you are just not trying out other available methods, just like how I tackle my General Papers.

5. Time management is very critical in Form 6. Don't procrastinate and study last minute, as I said in previous blog, Form 6 is Formula One, things will easily mess up at last minute!

    2. Sorry for late reply, it depends on what your future plan going to be. If you are aiming for local university, personally i will recommend matriculation. STPM will give you broader options compared to matriculation so it's good if you aiming to study overseas.
