This blog is the continuation of part one, so i expect you finish that first before reading this part.
2 May 2018, i finally back to this familiar building, my high school SMJK Chung Ling Butterworth, Penang. The feeling was quite weird as the things around seemed to be unfamiliar for me although i have just left for several months. Gearing myself with the old school uniform and a white long trouser, i felt like i was no different with lower form students in school XD. (PS: My school reserved the old rule that the attire for Form 6 students are school uniform. I rushed into the lecture hall with a backpack as i nearly late for it. Into the hall, almost all of the seats were full. "Huh, luckily i make it in time" i told myself. I simply took up a seat where my buddies sat beside without much thoughts.
"Har, you are here for Form 6 too?" was the question that we asked each other after a long dismiss. I had some chit-chat with ex-classmate before the event began. As far as i know, there were some friends who was waiting for the second intake too, while some of them have committed to pursue Form 6, Bravo! Soon, our chat was interrupted by the teachers in front, the event began. As usual, principal started the ceremony by giving a formal speech. He was particularly surprised by the number of Form 6 students this year (roughly 120+), but for me it was normal since we are Dragon Year's batch, the first batch of the millennials. Afterward, it was the Form 6 vice principal to give us some short brief. It was still fresh on my mind as she pointed out that some of us were passerby, and didn't take the event seriously. In my mind, I was hoping that she was not referring at me. Next, the Form 6 teachers of our school provided some insights on the subjects and the available packages. Basically, Science stream was divided into Physics and Biology classes, and whereas Commerce stream had more options and i didn't remember it since i was not interested.
After a few days that all the subjects were explained finished, we were asked to choose our own stream. Without any hesitation, i went for Physics class, since i didn't want to face Biology, which is totally a hell for me. But the interesting thing was before that i planned to pursue a medicine degree when i was in Form 5. After judging that i don't like the subject so much, plus it was hard to enter Medicine for Form 6 students, i gave up this idea. ( According to my teachers, top local universities like UM and UKM only enrol one or two STPM students each year, what a shocking info for me) The annoying thing was i have to face Chemistry for another two years, as it is the core subject for science stream. I think I not need to explain the reason why i hate it, simply because it was my weakness and i failed to enter first batch of matriculation intake just because of it (TT). At last, many of my buddies stayed in Physics class, a few of them opted for Biology class and Commerce Stream.
During the last day of the Orientation Week, STPM seniors were invited back to share their personal experiece in Form 6. I have received some warning like:
" SPM and STPM are totally different, if you think four subjects are easier to score compared to 10 in SPM, you're wrong."
"I know some of you aim to get 4 flats in STPM, but the truth is, getting a mere pass is a bless for you."
"In STPM, you are likely to lower your personal standard towards the marks, you will get used to failure."
" You all better prepare well for Sem 1, or else you will suffer to finish your retake papers and Sem 3 together!"
" Don't see retake paper as a choice, you will regret."
With the stern face they put on, i realised it was no joke. However, i don't really care about the advices, as i was hoping for the second intake of matriculation. In the following schooling days, i attended as usual. i couldn't put so much concentration on the lesson since my heart was on here. My heart and soul were waiting for the appeal result to be out, 31 may 2018...
